Fall is a great time to get out in the woods for a hike. Bugs are gone, the temperature is agreeable for physical activity, and there are so many interesting things to see before the world is covered by a blanket of white snow. However, hikers and mountain bikers are not the only folks in the woods this time of year. Hunters are also out and about. Please remember to wear “hunter orange” or “blaze orange” while hiking any BRCA trails or trails in the Kennebec Highlands (where hunting is allowed). Ideally, you should wear two pieces of blaze orange that consists of a hat and one other piece of clothing, such as a bandana, vest, or jacket. Big game hunters will be out in the woods through November 28th, with the exception of Sundays. Please hike safely!
